Melrose House Hotel in Pamukkale

As a town known for day trips, Pamukkale does not have a big range of hotel options for those who choose to spend a night or two. My (rigorous) research led me to Melrose House Hotel—a boutique, family-run hotel located but a 10-minute walk from the travertines.

Melrose House Hotel has a score of 8.4 in Booking.com and was one of the Top 3 hotels in Pamukkale according to Tripadvisor (during the time of booking).  But what really motivated me to book is the fact that Lonely Planet recommends it as a Top Pick in Pamukkale accommodations.  And personally, I thought the fact that it’s run by a family sounded really inviting.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and two days and thoroughly loved our stay.  Yes, the hotel’s location is great being a short walk from the travertines and the ‘town centre.’  Yes, the food in the in-house restaurant is incredibly delicious—both at breakfast and dinner—and truly tasted like home cooking.  And yes, the hotel is so charming—the pink walls, lace curtains, intricate trims, the Turkish tiles and lamps, and even the round bed in the room that added to the overall charisma of the place.  And oh yes, the pool is absolutely divine.

But all these pale in comparison to the No. 1 offering of the hotel: the family’s top-notch customer service.   From the moment I booked, Mehmet had been so accommodating with our questions and helped us arrange for airport transfers for our trip.  Upon arrival, the attention we received from the mother, daughter, brothers, etc., had been warm & welcoming, sincere & thoughtful.  Our most trivial needs—borrowing a charger, asking for loose change, requesting extra eggs—even the smallest concerns were met with such genuine consideration.

And a few other things to note:

  • At €45 ($50) per night for two people, Melrose House Hotel is incredibly budget-friendly.
  • The family has an adorable pet dog that will make any animal-lover’s stay a little more enjoyable.
  • The baklava served in the in-house restaurant is to-die-for—especially when paired with Turkish tea.
  • The hotel’s garden is absolutely beautiful and peppered with at least 10 varieties of roses.

The one thing I wish the hotel would re-visit is the airport shuttle service that they partner with. We did not have a great experience with the return service but apart from this, I would not hesitate to recommend this gem of a hotel in Pamukkale.
